We think Bartlettyarns may be the only domestic yarn company producing it, and lucky for us because Bartlettyarns is in Maine. Bartlettyarns has been producing yarn since 1821 when Ozias Bartlett founded it in Harmony. It sits along side Higgins Stream in a vintage mill building that holds the last remaining working spinning mule in the United States. This single-ply super bulky knits at about 2 1/2 stitches per inch. The super bulky has 80 yards. We also offer this yarn in a 2-ply worsted weight (knitting at 4 1/2 stitches per inch) or a 2-ply sport (knitting at 5.5 stitches perinch) This yarn responds well to hand washing, which is the only recommended way to was this yarn. Garments and accessories made with this yarn will soften with use. With the purchase of the bulky weight yarn, we are offering the Dexter Mitten pattern. Using #11 and #13 double point needles, you can knit a pair in an evening! Or the Falmouth Super Bulky Hat pattern, which can be knit in an evening as well.
